How to
Register
You can Register Online or Fill out a 2010 Summer Camp Registration Form and mail it to: Cedarkirk PCCM What time is registration? Registration for all camps, except SHL, CLIP, and some sessions of Reach Out, is from 4:00-5:00pm on the first day of the camp you registered for. When you drive into Cedarkirk, signs will point you to where your camp's registration is located. Closing program for all camps is at 3:00pm on the last day of camp. Signs will be posted to direct you to the location of the closing program. It is important for parents to be present for closure at this ceremony. Yes! But there must be a request made on your application and both people requesting to room together must request one another. Each camper can request only one roommate. Are there scholarships available? Yes! Camper scholarships are available through many churches. If your church does not offer summer camper scholarships, please print and fill out the Scholarship Request Form and contact the camp office at camps@cedarkirk.org or (813) 685-4224 ext.1. All scholarships are based on financial need and we will try our best to help. Can I come for more than one week of camp? Yes! However, please note that campers do not stay at Cedarkirk over the weekend (with the exception of SHL sessions #602 and #604, and campers enrolled in 7-day camps). What if I want to register for a camp that I am not old enough for? What if I am older in age, but have not finished a certain grade yet? At Cedarkirk, we register campers by the grade in school that they have most recently completed. If a camp is for Middle School campers 6th-8th grade, you must have finished 6th, 7th, or 8th grade this year. This grade level registration style helps us most appropriately place participants with others that are on the same level. The reasoning is to ensure a better experience for all campers.
Can I bring food or snacks to camp? No. During your week at camp, more than enough food and snacks are provided (three meals a day and an evening snack). We cannot allow parents to send food in the form of care packages. There is a store open during registration and the closing program which sells t-shirts, water bottles, songbooks, and other camp items. The camp store is not open during the week while campers are at Cedarkirk and does not sell food or snack items. There is no reason why campers would need to bring money for their week of camp. What happens during severe weather such as a hurricane? During a typical Florida thunderstorm - a common occurrence in the summer months - campers on site move to buildings such as the Pavilion to ride out the storm. Our staff is trained in seeking the best shelter options, no matter where the group is located. Throughout the summer months, we stay tuned into weather forecasts to help us know the latest storm information. In case of a tornado watch or warning, campers gather at Cedar Lodge, the lowest shelter point at camp. In case of an approaching hurricane in the surrounding area, camper parents are called and campers are picked up before the storm. Throughout your child's stay at Cedarkirk, our staff work hard to ensure the emotional and physical safety of your child. All campers are asked to sign a camper agreement before coming to camp, which promises their understanding of camp life and rules. When a camper's behavior becomes a danger to self or others, staff will intervene and hopefully resolve the conflict in a healthy, positive way. Counselors are trained in speaking with campers about what is bothering them and what might have prompted a behavior. If a camper is non-compliant with the safe environment we try to create, a camper will be sent home. It is our hope that we can intercede and work to resolve conflict in healthy ways before this drastic step must be taken. Do you have medical staff available? All of our staff are first aid and CPR certified. We have an on-site or on-call nurse at all times ready to help your child with any medical emergency. Emergency personnel are located 3 miles from the camp gate. How are the counselors selected and trained? The safety, training, and quality of the Cedarkirk staff is the key to our program. Our staff are young adults who have committed their time and energy this summer to caring for your child. Each counselor goes through an extensive hiring process, including interviews and background checks. Staff that are selected go through at least 11 days of training and are skill tested for each activity. Our staff training prepares counselors to lead small groups of campers, organize and present worships and Bible studies, be confident in the outdoors, certified in First Aid and CPR, and lead all of the activities that campers love. The deposit for summer camp is due at the time that the application is processed. If you register online, a $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time you register either by credit card or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). If you submit a paper application, a $50 non-refundable deposit is due by check before the application will be processed. This deposit guarantees your place in a registered camp.
